This is very much a shoot from the hip picture. For one thing, I would not be fast enough to bring the camera to my eye to catch this, and second, what makes the picture, I think, is the angle. When I saw the pink lady on the left, my idea was set, and since I was with the 35mm lens, zone focusing was the ultimate choice. I exposed for the highlight, and I was ready the minute they passed my set distance of about 3 meters. Of course, the irony of the pink lady is that I decided to convert the photo to black & white. //
C'est une photo très à la sauvette. Premièrement, je ne serais pas assez rapide pour amener l'appareil à mon œil pour la capturer, et deuxièmement, ce qui fait la photo, je pense, c'est l'angle. Quand j'ai vu la dame en rose à gauche, mon idée était en place et, comme j'étais avec l'objectif de 35 mm, la mise au point par zone était le choix ultime. J'ai exposé pour le point lumineux et j'étais prêt dès qu'ils ont dépassé ma distance réglée d'environ 3 mètres. Bien sûr, l'ironie de la dame en rose est que j'ai décidé de convertir la photo en noir et blanc.
