Upside down

The Oratoire Saint-Joseph, one of the iconic buildings of Montreal upside down in its reflection. I asked the security guard to stand there in her yellow vest to give the picture some perspective. //

L'Oratoire Saint-Joseph, l'un des édifices emblématiques de Montréal à l'envers et  réflechi. J'ai demandé à l'agente de sécurité de se tenir là avec son gilet jaune pour donner une certaine perspective à la photo.

The workflow

Why would I take this picture?It’s the repetition, it’s the contrast, it’s the curvy form. I wish it was cleaner, (the leaves!). //

Pourquoi prendre bette photo? La repetition, le contraste, et la forme courbatue. J’aimerais faire disparaitre les feuilles mortes pour nettoyer la photo.

Metro Préfontaine in Montreal has the weirdest modern architecture. Filled with odd shapes and glass, it forces the photographer to marry the abstract and reflections. //

Le metro Préfontaine a une moderne architecture des plus bizarres. Rempli de racoins et de verres, il force le photographe a marrié l’abstrait et le reflet.

The other side

I always go out with a camera and often I try to leave my camera bag at home, leaving me with one camera and one lens. A limitation that’s more a challenge to myself, telling myself to just deal with whatever limitation that it brings (and the fact that it’s less heavy on the shoulder). Here, I brought with me my trusty 35mm f2 summicron on the M10 Leica. This is one of those pictures, having coffee at Bêden on Laurier east. //

Je suis toujours avec un appareil photo et j'essaie souvent de laisser mon sac de camera à la maison, me laissant avec un appareil photo et un seul objectif. Une limitation qui est plus un défi pour moi me disant de faire face à la limitation que cela apporte (faut dire que c’est plus léger sur l'épaule aussi). Ici, j'ai apporté avec moi mon fidèle summicron 35 mm f2 sur le M10 Leica. C'est l'une de ces photos, prendre un café à Bêden sur Laurier Est.

Architecture of a small town

Spending some time in my hometown, in the Lower St-Lawrence/ Gaspesie. The first day even with average light was fruitful. //

Passant quelques jours dans ma ville natale dans le Bas-St-Laurent/Gaspesie, mon premier jour fut fructueux mais une lumière passsable.

The workFlow

From my visit to Montreal Musée des Beaux-arts’ Exhibit of Henry Miller and Georgia O’Keefe together that parallels the work of these two giants of art in the 20th century. For photographers however, Miller was offering more occasions for good shots especially with his sculpture work, plenty of openings and curves to use. Just like here. Of course, transformed into a black and white image, the priority is the form not the colours. //

De ma visite au Musée des Beaux-arts de Montréal pour l’exposition de Henry Miller et Georgia O’Keefe, deux géants de l’art du 20e siècle en parallèle. Pour un photographe cependant Miller avec ses sculptures donne plus d’occasions pour des image intéressantes, pleins d’ouvertures et de courbes an exploiter. Comme ici. Bien sur mis en noir et blanc, l’important ce sont les formes et non les couleurs.

It was important for me to lined up the lady’s face with one of the hole // L’important pour moi était d’enligner le visage de la dame avec un des ouvertures de la sculpture.
