Yellow architecture

Metro Préfontaine in Montreal has the weirdest modern architecture. Filled with odd shapes and glass, it forces the photographer to marry the abstract and reflections. //

The Workflow

They’re so cute, how can you not photograph them! The picture was quite quick and under exposed, I didn’t mind the crookedness, it helps with the movement and to keep the guy behind in a 8x10 format. High contrast B&W, pretty much my signature edit. //

Ils sont vraiment trop cute, comment ne pas les photographier! L’image fait à la sauvette rapidement. Le fait qu’elle soit un peu croche aide à donner un feeling de mouvement et garder le gars derrière dans une photo format 8x10. Haut contraste, noir et blanc, passablement ma signature.

Moustache

Like the guy on the left says, there are 3 things in this picture to note in the composition: the guy with the fantastic moustache, the guy ordering 3 and in the back, the guy looking on. //

Comme le monsieur nous le montre ici, il y a 3 choses a remarqués dans la composition de la photo: l’homme avec la moustache fantastique, le monsieur qui commande 3 barbes à papa et le monsieur derrière qui a un oeil sur la transaction.

The other side

I always go out with a camera and often I try to leave my camera bag at home, leaving me with one camera and one lens. A limitation that’s more a challenge to myself, telling myself to just deal with whatever limitation that it brings (and the fact that it’s less heavy on the shoulder). Here, I brought with me my trusty 35mm f2 summicron on the M10 Leica. This is one of those pictures, having coffee at Bêden on Laurier east. //

Je suis toujours avec un appareil photo et j'essaie souvent de laisser mon sac de camera à la maison, me laissant avec un appareil photo et un seul objectif. Une limitation qui est plus un défi pour moi me disant de faire face à la limitation que cela apporte (faut dire que c’est plus léger sur l'épaule aussi). Ici, j'ai apporté avec moi mon fidèle summicron 35 mm f2 sur le M10 Leica. C'est l'une de ces photos, prendre un café à Bêden sur Laurier Est.

I went to the new Royal Mount Mall just around the corner Of Station de La Savane, next to Décarie in Montreal. I wanted to see how the new building exploited the light. Here’s my first picture.

Pink

Through out downtown Montreal, there are these versions of this pink statue, this one on the place Ville-Marie is perhaps my favourite, it’s just a question of waiting for the right moment to take the picture. //

Partout au centre-ville de Montréal, on trouve ces diverses statues roses, celle-ci est probablement ma favorite. Maintenant il s’agit d’attendre le bon moment pour prendre la photo.
